Lila started showing an interest in phonics and reading a few months ago, so we've been working together on reading simple words and memorizing sight words such as "the", "and", and "am." It has been such an amazing process to see Lila enter the world of independent reading! Although I still need to sit by her side, and help her sound out some words, she can get through short books on her own. We try not to push Lila too much as reading is definitely still challenging and tiring for her. I try to find beginning reader books on topics she enjoys (Barbie and princesses, of course.) Recently I wrote a story titled "Princess Lila" using mainly simple words she already knew, which helped her reading confidence. I am so excited to share one of my favorite hobbies with my little girl!

Lila is reading!
