We celebrated N's 33rd birthday with a Star Wars-themed extravaganza. Well, extravaganza is maybe too big word, but I was definitely proud of the cohesiveness of our party theme! I baked a cake (using Trader Joe's devil's cake mix, yes, but it honestly bakes the best cake ever - better than any cupcakery or bakery out there). Then made frosting and downloaded the Star Wars font to make a stencil for the lettering.
Lila and Arjun made "Dot Mader", "Yode", "Princess Lei", "Luke" and "What are those again? Storm Troopers?" puppets.
The real present though, was teaching the kids about N's favorite movie and characters. Now they spontaneously burst into "light saber" battles. Arjun has expressed interest in dressing up as Yoda for Halloween, though he still favors Flounder. Hopefully this is the beginning of many hours of Star Wars quality time that N can share with the kids!
