We've been steadily eating through our backyard containers of green onions and cilantro. Its nice to have these common herbs right in the backyard, especially since they appear so much in Chinese cooking.
We've been patiently waiting for the other vegetables - Arjun havested a baby carrot a few weeks ago, and ate a tiny but sweet strawberry, but we haven't had any since then. Today, I decided it was time to harvest our biggest carrot! It turned out nice and and orange, if a bit rooty and gnarly. How do they get those supermarket carrots so nice and uniform? We had carrot sticks with dinner, less than an hour after harvest. Even N and Lila, who usually don't eat carrot in any form, enjoyed theirs. Home-grown carrots do taste crunchier and sweeter! Great job, Arjun!
